The mission to sell my sweet treats continues so on Sunday, I went along to a craft fair in East Yorkshire with my friend Emma – who has recently begun creating amazing little creatures, made out of socks – to set up a sweetie / Odd Sox stall.
I wasn’t too hopeful about selling any sweetie gift bags at the event, if I’m honest, and have begun to feel a little embarrassed of late about the whole ‘sweet enterprise’. But, I thought it would be a good idea to at least attempt to sell some of the perfectly good stock (not out of date, as one of my colleagues likes to jokingly – I hope! – imply!) and if nothing else, it would be a good opportunity to catch up with Emma.
The craft fair received quite a few visitors throughout the afternoon, although none of the stalls seemed to do a roaring trade. After four hours at the event (it should have been five hours but we turned up an hour late, thinking the fair started at 11am, not 10am), I managed to sell a grand total of four sweetie bags – which is four more bags than I expected to sell, so I went home happy!
The real stars of the day were Emma’s Odd Sox – the friendly little critters made out of socks! All socks used are brand new (nobody wants a stinky old sock) and Emma uses a wide selection of recycled materials, vintage fabrics, buttons and beads to give the little creatures their unique characters.
These guys brightened up our stall no end and received lots of interest from visitors. Take a look at some of the Odd Sox pics below. If you’re interested in your very own Odd Sox character, you can email your requirements to Emma @ firstname.lastname@example.org or add ‘Sock Critters‘ as a friend on Facebook, to check out her latest designs!
