Books, Glorious Books!

My current 'to read' pile

My current 'to read' pile, minus The Hunger Games and Afterwards, which I have read since I took the pic!

I love books. Everything about them – not just the reading of books but also the feel of them, the joy of turning the pages and the feeling of actually consuming a book as you whizz through it. Which is why one of the items I can safely say I will never purchase will be a Kindle or other e-book reader. Whilst a lot can be said for taking a Kindle with you on your travels instead of a heavy pile of books, I’d opt to lug around a stack of books with me any day because, for me, nothing can beat the feel of a good book in your hands.

Earlier this week it was World Book Day – a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, reading. More than 100 countries join in the celebration and it’s an opportunity to encourage children and adults to appreciate the joy of reading.

With this in mind, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share with you my Top Ten books – although there are many more I could add to the list. Click here to see what they are. What are your fave books of all time?

Agreed…in all ways possible. There’s something about books that are irresistable and that’s why I’ll never purchase an e-book reader. Last year I set myself a New’s Years resolution to read all of my book pile before purchasing another book. I had 12 on my list I managed 9 before I got distracted by other engagements but its rolled over into this year and I’m determined to finish them all. This January I’ve started on Mansfield Park and it’s coming on nicely. Bring on the Readathon! Plus I’m desperate to go on a book spending spree!

Woo hoo! I’m determined not to buy any other books until I finished the pile in the picture but when I got to the end of The Hunger Games I wanted to read the second book in the series, so I bought that. But no more book buying now until I’ve finished the rest of the pile…!
Hope all is well with you, Rach? x
